POST TOUR COMMENTS - Our tour of the southwest is complete. We had excellent shows in Albuquerque, Salt Lake, Berkeley, Fresno and Flagstaff and met new friends in all of the towns we played except Phoenix. Band consensus seems to be that we’d rather spend time in horrible places like Houston (ew!) than return to Phoenix. A special debt of thanks must be paid to Brian Kenney Fresno and Mark Growden for their guidance and hospitality.
Very soon a tour diary of our trip will be posted to the site along with pictures we took along the way. We returned from the tour minus our van and our drummer!
NEW CD and RELEASE SHOW - In happier news, we completed our new CD Tigris Pauxillus right before the tour and sold several copies on the road. The 8 songs thereon were engineered by our own trumpeter Rick Redman. We will perform a CD Release Show on 8/25 at Room 710 in Austin with La Mancha, Opposite Day and Robbie and the Robots. We’ll also welcome Sardine King Aaron Lack back to the stage for this special show. It is available through mail order online by contacting us here and will soon be available at Waterloo and Cheapo in Austin.
TOM’S DEPARTURE - That’s right, mutual split between the rest of the band and drummer Tom Bowman occurred right before the last show of the tour (El Paso). We bid Tom adieu and wish him a brighter future. Let the auditions begin! If you would like to audition as the drummer for the Invincible Czars, contact us via email.
ENTER WILLIE POLAND - We were so pleased with Willie’s performance on the road and excited about his ability to learn our songs only a couple of weeks beforehand that we’ve crowned him an official Czar. Willie comes to us from Austin improve trio Bonus. He and Josh split many a bag of chicharrones on the road and made the rest of the band quite ill. Willie also knows how to sail, butcher beef, pork and lamb and graduated from the same college as Weird Al Yancovic.
