Our late MAY trip to the east was full of obstacles, but still we pressed forward:

We returned to SuperHappyFunland in Houston just in time to miss the fine ex-Austin string quartet Two Star Symphony but did catch the surf sounds of friendly, fast talking ex-Dungeon Masters the Neptones.

Surprisingly, we managed to keep the Seger-loving crowd's attention in New Orleans. The highlight of the night was when someone recognized our cover of Metallica's Blackened within the first few bars. Talk about foot traffic and bar hopping: after each song, we looked up to see a practically whole new audience.

On the way to Lake Charles, we discovered Louisiana's answer to the Little Czech Bakery of West, Texas ---> The Boundin Hut! This fine establishment even has all-crawfish boudin. In Lake Charles we played an energetic (if bleary-eyed) show to a handful of enthusiastic folks who cheered loudly and smiled a lot. We missed our new friends Fuzz Munky (thanks for the show, guys) but did manage to get into town in time to catch a few tunes from Victim of Modern Age who are a fine, young band from Lafayette, LA with whom we hope to share a bill in the future.

Our recording is also coming along nicely. It is due for release in mid/late JULY right before our tour to San Francisco and back. If all goes according to plan, the artwork for the CD sleeve will be done by the Brothers Hall: Zach Hall designed the Invincible Czars t-shirts and will be painting the front cover of the album while Ben Hall will handle the inside work.

Finally, a thanks to our hosts during our trip to New Orleans: Thanks!
